The SMEG Group – Société Monégasque de l’Électricité et du Gaz – has inaugurated its new ten-storey, 12,000 sqm building in the heart of Fontvieille, marking a major milestone in its development and in Monaco’s institutional landscape. This large-scale building hosts the SMEG Group’s operational teams, several departments of the Monegasque Administration, as well as private tenants. Presented to the public in October 2025, the year of the Group’s 135th anniversary, the building was inaugurated in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène, underscoring its symbolic and heritage significance.
“We are extremely proud of this project, which I initiated in 2018. This remarkable building reflects the image of the SMEG Group: modern and inspiring for our employees. It is essential for us that our staff feel proud of our colors and comfortable within our walls.” — Thomas Battaglione, Chief Executive Officer of the SMEG Group
Designed to embody the strategic vision of the SMEG Group, the building offers a modern and efficient working environment aligned with the ambitions of Monaco’s energy transition. It promotes collaboration, quality of life at work, and continuous innovation in the energy sector.
The interior architectural project was entrusted to Hi Contract, which delivered all the bespoke furniture and integrated fittings for the reception and workspaces. For nearly a year, the teams worked around three main finishes — Polyrey Prussian Blue laminate, Homapal Champagne laminate, and matte-varnished oak — to create a coherent, refined, and luminous aesthetic. The curved reception counters in natural oak and metallic laminate embody the spirit of the project: fluid lines, contemporary elegance, and functional excellence.
“Taking part in the interior design of the new SMEG Group headquarters was both an honor and a responsibility for our teams. We sought to combine artisanal excellence, sustainability, and contemporary identity to create spaces that fully reflect the values of the SMEG Group.” — Moreno Brugnotto, Chief Executive Officer of Hi Contract
The building’s cafeteria, conceived as a space for informal interaction, features oak banquettes, comfortable seating, and glass partitions to provide a warm and open atmosphere. Each floor is also equipped with functional, harmonized kitchenettes, designed to facilitate everyday use and to encourage internal interaction and conviviality.
