In the prestigious setting of Piazza Duomo in Como, the historic store VITRUM stands, originally designed by Giuseppe Terragni. The renovation project of Galleria Como with the new concept store Como 1907 was curated by Studio Plac from Turin to transport visitors into a playful blend of history and innovation. The concept embodies the spirit of reuse by simultaneously embracing modern architectural elements and cutting-edge technology.
One of the distinctive features of the store is the sculptural marble staircase that ascends from the ground floor to the upper level. The staircase not only serves as a functional element but has also been conceived as a focal point of the space, presenting itself as a sculpture once entered into the store. The timeless and attractive charm of marble continues to be highlighted within the store with the integration of marble portals.
The mirror room, covered with mirrors on multiple surfaces, offers a surreal and engaging experience to customers, enhancing their interaction with the merchandise. The store’s floor makes a bold statement with the use of “almond Steel”, a unique and captivating flooring material that combines the strength of steel with the tactile feel of the texture. This innovative flooring choice not only adds a touch of technological allure but also integrates with the overall aesthetic of the design.
